How Vedara calculates today's planetary positions
This page requests the graha-positions calculation from Vedara public tools and renders the response on the server. It lists the Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, Rahu and Ketu in a fixed order so the table is easy to compare day by day.
Every longitude is calculated from the ephemeris first and then read through the Lahiri sidereal zodiac. The degree column is the planet degree inside its current sidereal sign, while nakshatra and pada come from the same sidereal longitude.
The weekly change line compares this table with the same UTC sample seven days earlier. It reports sign and retrograde-status differences only, so it does not turn sky movement into a prediction.

- The table shows today's sidereal positions for the nine grahas: sign, degree, nakshatra, pada and retrograde status. Vedara calculates these positions from the ephemeris in UTC and uses the Lahiri ayanamsha, the sidereal reference frame used across the public Vedic tools.
- Why do these positions differ from Western astrology tables?
- Most Western tables use the tropical zodiac, while this page uses the Lahiri sidereal zodiac. The planets are in the same sky, but the zodiac reference starts from a different point, so the labelled sign can differ by roughly one sign near many dates.
- Are Rahu and Ketu real planets in this table?
- Rahu and Ketu are lunar nodes, not physical planets. Vedic astrology treats them as grahas for chart timing, so Vedara lists them with the seven visible bodies. Their positions use the same mean-node convention as the public transit datasets.
