The birth nakshatra (janma nakshatra) is one of the most personal points in Vedic astrology. Where Western astrology leads with the Sun sign, Jyotish leads with the Moon — and the nakshatra divides the Moon’s zodiac twenty-seven ways instead of twelve, giving a far more specific signature. Each mansion spans 13°20′ and carries its own mythology: a deity, a symbol, a temperament, and a planetary ruler.

A note on accuracy: the Moon moves through one nakshatra roughly every day, so most birth dates map to a single answer regardless of time.
